Have you been following the essential oil craze? I guess it’s always been there but it seems people are paying more and more attention to them. They are a great natural alternative for adding scents to your home - without the dreaded chemicals that are in almost all store-bought air freshners. They also can be used in a multitude of ways, for simple aromatherapy for example or in beauty recipes and remedies. I love them and love the fact that we are, as a society, moving towards more natural ways to do the things that encompass our natural routines.
This week, Carrie from The Lavender Hytta shares with us her recipe for making a DIY foot scrub using Epsom salts, lemon essential oil and honey. Sounds absolutely divine! If you are also an essential oil fan, please visit her blog which you will love. She offers a 4 week FREE course all about getting started with essential oils! I love free anything!
DIY Foot Scrub: Lemon Drop and Honey
by Carrie at The Lavender Hytta
After a rough week, I love to give myself a little rest and relaxation. Since I do a lot of standing throughout my day, my poor feet get the bad end of the deal. Whenever possible, they get a little extra attention and pampering. I love to make my own mixes, scrubs, and treatments so I knew exactly what I was going to make to thank my feet for how amazing they are. A simple Lemon Drop and Honey Foot Scrub was just what the doctor ordered.

Essential Oils are all the rage right now. I have quite the collection and I use them for any and everything. There are so many uses for these oils and they are safe to use. One of my favorites is the Lemon Essential Oil. One reason this works in my foot scrub is because lemon can help break down calluses that many of us have after standing on our feet all day. The Lemon Essential Oil is a great antiseptic agent that provides your feet with instant relief and muscle relaxation. Honey, which I know sounds crazy, is also wonderful for your feet. If you have cracks on your heels, honey can help relieve some of the pain caused by the cracks. Lemon Drop and Honey Foot Scrub is the perfect gift to gift your feet plus it is easy to make.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Epsom salt
- 1 cup sugar – use organic cane sugar, brown sugar, or regular granulated
- 2 Tbsp raw honey
- 1 cup coconut oil (melt it down into a liquid form)
- 8-10 drops Lemon essential oil
Instructions
- In a medium sized bowl add Epsom salt and sugar and combine fully.
- Slowly begin stirring in the oil until mixture is smooth, but not goopy. (You may not need to use the full cup of oil.)
- Add the honey and stir well, then mix in the essential oil.
- Store in an air tight jar or container
I hope you loved my Lemon Drop and Honey Foot Scrub as much as I do. It really is the perfect addition to your beauty regimen.
